Know the specific characteristics of the sport.
Know the characteristics of the contexts where the sport is developed.
Identify and know how to handle rowing specific materials
Know all the preservation care to be taken with the material of the modality.
Know and know how to apply all the safety rules inherent to the practice of the sport.
Identify and know how to perform the technical gestures of the sport.
Respect all practitioners and the environment.

Syllabus

Rowing history: sports and leisure aspects.
Characterization of the activity, basic requirements for the practice of the modality.
Equipment and technical basis for rowing, typology of vessels depending on their use.
Safety equipment for initiation. Vests and floats.
Technique and body posture (base position, maneuvers and rescue).
Organization and promotion of rowing activities.
Teaching-learning stages: embarkation and disembarkation, maneuvers, what to do when the boat capsizes, phases of teaching the technique, initiation tasks.
Practice sites and meteorology.


Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

The contents covered in this UC allow students to know the different specific approaches to the sport, having as reference the practice and associated technical gestures, allowing them to build an understanding of the concepts and application in different environments and with a differentiated population.

Teaching methodologies

The work of the UC is organized around:
- Thematic exposition classes (theoretical and practical)/program contents by the professor(s)
- Document analysis classes, exhibition of materials associated with the sport, discussion of work done by students

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

The articulation between the work developed in the classroom of an expository nature, as well as the articulated tasks that are carried out of a practical typology and the work carried out, presented and discussed in class, allows students to understand the ways of acting in a pedagogical way in different contexts. associated with Rowing, favoring spaces for reflection on routes and guidelines in the development of the activity.

Assessment methodologies and evidences

Continuous evaluation
- Participation - 40%.
- Group work or Written test - 30%.
- Practical assessment 30%.
Final exam: students who do not obtain a final grade greater than or equal to 9.5 in the continuous assessment system will be sent to the final exam.

Attendance system

It is expected that each student attends at least 75% of the practical application sessions and that they analyze and discuss the proposed tasks and execute the assessment products in close relationship with the UC professors, with the exception of students with special status (Article 24 of the RFA).
